Labour members urged to stand for council as all candidates are confirmed

Call for candidates from under-represented groups as Labour becomes largest local government party

Labour has been speeding up its selection of candidates in recent months with a flurry of new.

Labour Party members are being urged to stand for council as all candidates for the 2024 general election have now been confirmed.

The party is particularly keen to encourage members from a wide range of backgrounds and those in under-represented groups to stand.

Labour is now the largest party of local government - overtaking the Conservatives for the first time.

The party won 1158 seats in the 107 council elections across England an increase of 186 councillors.

LabourList and Headland Consultancy have launched an interactive UK constituency map showing all the candidates who have been selected so far.

The map shows that Labour is making good progress in selecting candidates but there are still a number of seats where no candidate has yet been chosen.

The deadline for candidates to be selected is 5pm on 12th April 2024.
