Portugal 0-1 Croatia (FT): Modric breaks deadlock to send Croatia to Nations League finals

Croatia have reach the Nations League finals after a 1-0 win over Portugal.

Match-winner Luka Modric broke the deadlock against the run of play in the first half to secure three points for his team.

The match, which took place at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon, was a closely fought contest between two of international football's top sides.

Portugal had the better of the chances in the first half, with Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Jota both going close.

Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic also made a number of impressive saves to keep his team in the game.

However, it was Croatia who took the lead in the 26th minute when Modric's deflected shot found its way into the net.

Portugal pushed for an equalizer in the second half, but Croatia defended resolutely to secure the win.

The result means that Croatia will join Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain in the Nations League finals, which will be held in June 2023.
