2023 Minnesota Duck Hunting Season Dates Announced
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced the 2023 duck hunting season dates.
The season will open on Saturday, September 23, 2023, and close on Sunday, November 26, 2023. The daily bag limit is six ducks, including no more than four mallards (only one of which may be a female), three wood ducks, and one canvasback.
The possession limit is 12 ducks, including no more than eight mallards (only two of which may be female), six wood ducks, and two canvasbacks.
Hunters must have a valid Minnesota hunting license and a federal duck stamp. They must also register with the Minnesota DNR before hunting. For more information, visit the DNR website at http://www.mndnr.gov/hunting.
Here are some tips for a successful duck hunting season:
- Scout the area where you plan to hunt in advance.
- Set up your decoys in a way that will attract ducks.
- Be patient and wait for the ducks to come to you.

- Retrieve your ducks quickly to prevent them from spoiling.
