Celtic moves to the brink of another Scottish Premiership title

WEB Celtic took a huge step towards another Scottish Premiership title by seeing off Rangers in a thrilling.

Celtic are on the brink of another Scottish Premiership title after emerging from a stormy clash with Rangers.

Celtic clinched a 2-1 victory over their fierce rivals at Ibrox Stadium on Wednesday night, extending their lead at the top of the table to nine points with just two games remaining.

Goals from Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi gave the Hoops a deserved victory, with Fashion Sakala’s late strike proving to be nothing more than a consolation for the hosts.

The victory means that Celtic is now on the brink of securing their 11th league title in a row, and their 53rd overall. With just two games remaining, Ange Postecoglou’s side needs just one more point to wrap up the championship.

Celtic will be looking to secure the title in style when they host Hearts at Celtic Park on Saturday. A victory in that match would see them crowned champions for the ninth time in the last ten seasons.

Rangers, meanwhile, will be looking to finish the season on a high when they travel to St Johnstone on Sunday.

The defeat leaves Rangers’ hopes of winning the title hanging by a thread. The Ibrox side is now nine points behind Celtic with just two games remaining.

It would be a massive disappointment for Rangers to miss out on the title after their impressive start to the season. Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side went unbeaten in their first 16 league games, but they have faltered in recent weeks.

Celtic, on the other hand, have been in excellent form all season. They have lost just twice in the league and have scored more goals than any other team.

With just two games remaining, it is difficult to see Celtic letting this title slip away. The Hoops are on the brink of glory, and they will be determined to finish the job.
