Vikings Trade Up for Anthony Richardson

Vikings Acquire Future Star Quarterback

Richardson Joins Minnesota's Rebuilding Project

The Minnesota Vikings have made a bold move in the 2023 NFL Draft, trading up to acquire Anthony Richardson, a highly coveted quarterback from the University of Florida. Richardson, a 6-foot-4, 244-pound signal-caller, is considered one of the most talented and physically gifted quarterbacks in this year's draft class.

To acquire Richardson, the Vikings traded their first-round pick (No. 17 overall) and a third-round pick (No. 79 overall) to the Denver Broncos. The Broncos then used the No. 17 pick to select edge rusher Nolan Smith from the University of Georgia.

Richardson has been praised for his strong arm, athleticism, and leadership abilities. He finished his sophomore season at Florida with 2,510 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions. He also rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns.

The Vikings are hoping that Richardson can be their franchise quarterback of the future. They have struggled to find a long-term answer at the position since trading away Donovan McNabb in 2010.

Richardson will join a Vikings team that is in the midst of a rebuild. They finished the 2022 season with a 13-4 record but lost in the first round of the playoffs. They have a number of young players on their roster, including wide receiver Justin Jefferson and running back Dalvin Cook.

The Vikings are hoping that Richardson can help them take the next step and contend for a Super Bowl championship. He has the talent and potential to be a special player, and the Vikings are excited to have him join their team.
